Chris Riddle (b. 1984, Dayton, OH) received an MFA in Painting in 2020 from The Tyler School of Art and Architecture (Temple University) in Philadelphia. Additionally, Riddle earned a B.S. in Painting and a Minor in Psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion, IN) in 2007.

From 2009-2017, Riddle worked as an artist’s assistant in New York City in the studios of internationally recognized artists Rudolf Stingel, Ellen Altfest, Kon Trubkovich, Jonathan Horowitz, The Still House Group, and Eric Helvie. From 2020-2021, Riddle assisted in the studio of artist duo Anoka Faruqee and David Driscoll in New Haven, CT. Riddle has continued working for artist’s in New York City, most recently in the studio of painter Cheyney Thompson.

Riddle has exhibited his works at The Emily Harvey Foundation, New York; Massey Klein Gallery, New York; Byrdcliffe Artist Colony, Woodstock; Temple Contemporary, Philadelphia; Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, Philadelphia; Kieran Timberlake, Philadelphia: Salt Studios, Brooklyn, NY; Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Rochester, New York; Lorimoto, Brooklyn, New York; Cameo Gallery, Brooklyn, New York; 56 Dunham, Brooklyn, New York; and Atelier FAS, Philadelphia, PA among others.

Awards and Residencies include a 2020 Seasonal Fellowship at the Byrdcliffe Artist Colony, in Woodstock, New York, a Merit Scholarship in Tyler School of Art’s Master’s of Fine Arts Painting program, and the 2023 ‘Professional’ award designation at The Church of St. Martin’s of the Field ‘Stations of the Cross’ exhibition.

Since 2018, Riddle has taught at Tyler School of Art and Architecture as an Adjunct Professor teaching courses in both painting and drawing. During the 2023-24 academic year, Riddle taught as a 2D Art Instructor at The Haverford School in Haverford, PA.

Riddle currently lives and works between New York City and the Hudson Valley.
